Autumn Term
Maths
In Maths, we have been practising counting, reading and writing numbers to 10 and beyond. We have also been finding 1 more and 1 less than a number and comparing amounts using the language 'fewer', 'more' , 'greater than', 'less than', 'same' and 'equal to'. We are very good at partitioning numbers using a 'part, part, whole' model. Maths is SO much fun!
Science
In Science, we have been learning about animals, including humans. We can locate and name our basic body parts and have carried out tests to investigate the five senses: sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste. We have also been looking at the ways animals can be classified.
History
We love being historians! We have been looking at changes over time and how we and our school have changed over time. Did you know Wilbury Primary School was built in 1953? We have been on a school learning to walk to discover more about Wilbury's past. The past is quite different to the now!
Geography
We love being geographers too! We have been studying maps and learning about our local area, Edmonton Green. We have also been learning the names of the four countries of the United Kingdom and the surrounding seas. We are also working hard to remember the seven continents or the world and the five oceans.
Literacy
We have been working incredibly hard with our writing and have enjoyed reading Zog and The Naughty Bus. We use our phonic knowledge to help us to spell words, capital letters to start our sentences, finger spaces in between our words, and full stops to end our sentences. We try to re-read our sentences to check they make sense. We are so proud of ourselves!
ART
In Art, we have been analysing Bridget Riley's work and creating our own patterns. We love expressing ourselves through art.
RE
We are enjoying learning about different religions and beliefs. This half-term, we have been learning about Christianity. We have been acting out some stories that teach people to be kind and caring towards others.
