Wilbury Celebration
For the end of year celebration we highlighted our values - Respect, Resilience, Responsibility and Kindness - as our main theme. Lots of children dressed in clothes that reflected their cultural identity which represented the importance of diversity in our school.
The sun was out, the temperature was cool and once we had all settled into our positions on the field we welcomed the parents and carers with a rapturous cheer! Children were tasked to make flags and crowns which were adorned with messages showing how they use the values in their lives. The field was a blaze of colour and excitable activity, and from its centre the energy felt electric!
Mrs. Wise beautifully introduced each stage of this very prestigious event. Of course, we had to start with a song and 'Together' is a Wilbury favourite! Mr. Roberts, our Music Teacher, had been working with all classes this half term. The children contentedly sang and I would say that the music was the heart of our event.
Traditionally we ask the classes to parade around the field and this year the atmosphere had a definite carnival feel. The spirit of competition was alive too in the form of a most egg-traordinary egg and spoon race with teams consisting of teachers and pupils. Mrs. Bairfelt's Blue team were worthy winners and just pipped victory at line in a very close call!
Year 6 treated us to a dance from their end of term show 'The Greatest Showman' and the Year 4 Improve Dance Troupe accompanied us as we sang 'We're All in this Together'.
It was - all in all - quite a joyous morning but the stars of the show were the children. As we were about to all leave the field, Mrs. Wise reminded us to keep using and sharing our values so that together we can unite in strength and wisdom! What a great day
