Wisp
For World Book Day this year, Year 5 and 6 used the book 'Wisp' by Zana Fraillon. 'Wisp' is a powerful and uplifting story of a young refugee who discovers hope.
To inspire the learning, a group of Year 5 and 6 story tellers created a digital story book, each recording a word or line remotely. These were then stitched together to produce a beautiful retelling of Fraillon's story.
To celebrate our story tellers' achievements, we sent the digital story book to the publisher and the author of the book. This was Zana Fraillon's reply:
'This is, without a doubt, the most wonderful reading of Wisp that I have ever had the pleasure to see. What an amazing group of students you have...Please pass on my congratulations to the students and teacher involved for creating such a fantastic celebration of stories for World Book Day.'
She also asked whether she could send our digital story book to the illustrator - Grahame Baker Smith - and invited our students to attend her virtual World Book Day webinar - which many of them did. This week she sent the students a fantastic personal video message thanking and congratulating them.
An amazing response to our World Book Day activities and we hope you enjoy watching our Year 5 and 6 story tellers perform.
