Ofsted

Following our OFSTED inspection on 18th and 19th April 2023. We are delighted to report that the school has been graded ‘good’ overall and ‘outstanding’ for two key areas – behaviour and attitudes and Early Years.

This was our first inspection under the new OFSTED framework, introduced in 2019 and revised last year.

We are very pleased that the inspectors highlighted the welcoming, nurturing and inclusive nature of Wilbury. There was also recognition of how we ensure every child quickly becomes a reader and develops a love of reading. They commented on the ambitious and well structured curriculum across all subject areas, the high-quality provision for SEND pupils, our outstanding Early Years and the exemplary behaviour and attitudes across the school! Our children and our staff really are amazing every day and we are incredibly proud of our whole Wilbury community – children, staff, parents and governors.

The quality of education, leadership and management, and personal development were all judged to be ‘good’. They acknowledged the ambitious nature of our curriculum and the progress we have already made in implementing it. When you read the report, you will see they have only given us one area for development. They highlighted in very few subjects, some of our pupils found it difficult to remember key concepts and vocabulary that they have been taught before. As you know, we are a restless school, and we have already started thinking about how we can help our children to retrieve prior learning even more successfully so that they know more and remember more across all our subject areas.

Many thanks for your continued support for the school, this is an achievement which should be celebrated by everyone in our community, children, staff, parents and governors.
